Jeepney Tours

Welcome to Manila! Allow us to provide you with more than a great way to travel around the capital onboard a cultural icon of the Philippines, the Jeepney!

The Jeepney is a unique transportation that can only be found in the Philippines. It was originally made from the US military jeeps that were left to the Filipinos after World War II, giving it the powerful engine of an army jeep.  Due to Filipino ingenuity, the body was remodeled by adding some metal roofs and decorating it with vibrant colors.  It has rapidly emerged as a creative and popular means of public transportation.

To allow the travelers to enjoy a more comfortable ride, we custom-made a luxurious 20-seater jeepney equipped with air conditioner, cooler and a tour facilitator.  In the event of a traffic jam, fret not as we have a videoke system onboard to keep you entertained during the entire duration of your trip!

The Jeepney Tours is an essential introduction to Manila in a fun and informative way and it links you to the attractions of the city. We invite you to experience all the magical sights and sounds of Manila in an entertaining, comfortable and secure environment.

THE PIT STOPS

MANILA

The Coconut Palace was built in 1978. It was a project of former first lady, Imelda Marcos. It served as the presidential guest house during their presidential term. Almost 70% of the palace is made up of coconut materials. There are seven rooms that represent the different provinces here in the Philippines from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The Palace was originally conceived as the Tahanang Pilipino (Filipino Home) by one of the innovative architects, Francisco Mañosa. Built on 3,000 square meters of floor area, this gourd-shaped stately house stands on a reclaimed land of the Cultural Center Complex along Roxas Boulevard. The palace took about fourteen months to complete. The coconut, known since early times as the “tree of life,” became its main source of architectural inspiration.

The Cultural Center of the Philippines (or CCP) is located along Roxas Boulevard in Manila. It was opened in 1969 to promote and preserve the Filipino arts and to become a Mecca of culture in Asia. The CCP was created by Former President Ferdinand Marcos in 1966. Designed by National Artist for Architecture, Leandro Locsin, the CCP is home to several theaters, a library, a museum, galleries, and exhibition rooms. Its magnificent halls have hosted several exhibits and performances, giving visitors a privileged glimpse of the rich culture, arts and traditions of the Philippines.

The Rizal Park or Luneta Park is situated in the heart of the city. It was named after the national hero of the country, Dr. Jose Rizal. Luneta is a refuge for early morning joggers and tai-chi practitioners. It was called Bagumbayan (New Town) in Spanish times, and became known later on as Luneta. The remains of Rizal is said to lie under the memorial statue there, with ceremonial soldiers guarding the site. His poem, "Mi Ultimo Adios" ("My Last Farewell") is inscribed on the memorial plaque.

Intramuros in Greek means “within the walls.” The walled city was constructed in 1571 during the period of the Spanish colonization. It is now one of the best preserved medieval cities in the world and has been proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As part of the continuation of the famous city’s identity and feel, policemen wear costumes of the past “guardia civil” as their uniforms.

Fort Santiago. This important historical site was named in honor of the Spanish patron, Saint James, Slayer of Moors (Santiago Matamoros), whose wooden relief decorates the main gate of the fort. It is the place where Dr. Jose Rizal was imprisoned before his execution in Luneta. The former fortress houses several memorabilia of the 300-year Spanish rule in the Philippines. Fort Santiago also served as the military headquarters of the Spanish, British, American and Japanese regimes.

San Agustin Church. Built in 1571, it is the oldest stone church in the Philippines. It houses a private museum of rare and ancient religious artifacts and is the site of a centuries-old crypt that houses the mausoleum of Spanish conquistador, Miguel Lopez de Legaspi.

Manila Cathedral. With its intricate stone carvings, stained glass mosaics and rosette windows, the Manila Cathedral is a favorite venue for grand weddings. The seat of the Archdiocese of Manila, the church looks like a giant cross when viewed from the air.

Casa Manila.
A reconstructed 19th century home showing how the elite lived during the colonial period, the place features priceless antiques from Spanish-era Manila.

Where to Eat?

Barbara’s Restaurant. Housed in a renovated 19th century compound, this restaurant specializes in native and Spanish dishes, along with exotic dishes that are famous among Filipinos. The old world elegance of the restaurant blends perfectly well with its historic surroundings.

Where to Shop?

Silahis Arts and Artifacts. A manufacturer of the finest handmade Philippine products, Silahis Arts and Artifacts is located in Calle Real del Palacio. Within its museum atmosphere, traditional artifacts and ethnic crafts are synthesized with contemporary crafts and accessories expressing the eclectic Philippine lifestyle.

Must Try Experience!

Kalesa Ride. Visitors can tour the Walled City on beautifully crafted, antique horse-drawn carriages similar to those used by Spanish officials and nobles as a means of transportation during the colonial era.

The Mall of Asia also features the first-ever IMAX theater in the Philippines.
